Be The One Part 5

Hey Champions,

Today, we are going to start in Luke with the story of the ten lepers. This story illustrates how God is calling all of us to Be the One and how we mix action with faith to do so. Once again, if you are reading this blog for the first time, read the four posts before today to catch up with where we are!

Luke 17:12-19

12: Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood far off.

13: And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14: So, when He saw them, He said to them “go, show yourselves to the priest.” And so, it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15: And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16: and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17: So, Jesus answered and said, “were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?”

18: “Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

19: And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” (whole)

Going with the theme that God has placed on our heart, we see ten lepers here who cried out to Jesus to Be the One that received their healing. Jesus heard their cry and asked them to put action to their faith in Him healing them by going to “show yourselves to the priest.” So, again, we see faith mixed with action bringing forth healing because the scripture states that as they went, they were cleansed of the leprosy. All ten went forth and were cleansed. The leprosy was gone from their lives.

BUT, there was one! There was one who decided to come back and praise God for what He had done for him! You see, I believe - by study, prayer, leading of the Holy Spirit - that we are missing out on a big part of our life in God because we don’t yield enough to praise. Not “made up praise” but heartfelt praise. This ONE leper did, and he received a great reward in return for it! Jesus made him whole - shalom: nothing missing, nothing broken! He received it all back. Not just the cleansing from the leprosy, but wholeness in every area of life just because he chose to Be the One who praised and thanked God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Choose to Be the One who praises God for His goodness in your life - for all He has done for you, for saving you, for the blessings surrounding you. Choose to Be the One who praises!
