Disappointment

Hello Champions!

Last time we talked about the Glory Days, and we found out that the season you are in right now, in God’s eyes, is meant to be your Glory Days. I am sure that you have had wonderful experiences in your past, but God has created a life for you and has equipped you with everything to help you achieve Glory Days every day of your life. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t experience disappointments in life. Every person on this planet experiences disappointments. Even the greatest faith people do! We all get disappointed.

Even God was disappointed! He was disappointed with the children of Israel. Jesus was disappointed. Remember? He said to God, “Father, why have you forsaken me?” Paul was disappointed with things that were happening in the churches that he had established. These are all examples of great people of faith, and they were disappointed.

There is no such thing as a “superhero” of faith who never gets disappointed. Let’s be real, let’s not be fake in our faith. Disappointments will come, but what we do with those disappointments will determine the course of the situation. Even Abraham, who was labeled in the Bible as the “Father of Faith,” was disappointed.

Being disappointed does not mean there is something wrong with you or that you are out of faith. Disappointment means that there is an adversary out there that is working against your happiness, and if he can get you to concentrate on your disappointment, then he has you! This is the beginning of the “D’s” of Satan’s plan. I call this the Domino Effect. Have you ever lined up a bunch of domino’s, pushed the first one, and then watched them all tumble down as each one hit the next one? This is Satan’s game plan against us. He has lined up the first domino, disappointment, and has presented it to you. He hopes you will concentrate on it and push it into the next phase of his plan. As Christians, sometimes we will accept this disappointment because we feel like we are out of faith. Because we are experiencing this disappointment, we feel like we have messed up and are not operating in faith. Champions, that is a lie from the enemy!

You have faith no matter what you may be experiencing. The Bible tells us that God has given us the measure of faith. So, at any point in your life, you have the measure of faith working on the inside of you. Even if you choose to focus on the disappointment, that measure of faith is still there! God has placed that gift inside of you, and all you have to do is choose to operate in that instead of operating in disappointment. God is always there to help you! Even in the midst of your disappointment, He will help you get back on track. Remember the scripture from last week, 1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG). God will always be there to help you come through it.

Join me next week as we continue with the D’s of the devil. Remember that God is with you, even in the midst of disappointment. Choose to focus on God and His gifts over the disappointment.

Glory Days!

We all know this term. Most of us have heard the song Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen. In fact, almost every one of us can tell a “Glory Day” story about our lives! My definition of Glory Days is this: “The past that once was, but no longer is.” These are times in our lives when everything seems to be going right. But, you know, sometimes our Glory Days don’t seem like such glory days when we are in the middle of them. For example, intense football practices every day are not so glorious. Winning state? Now, that is glorious. Long hours working at a job - not so glorious. Getting a promotion and a big raise - glorious! You see, this is the thing about Glory Days: you don’t even realize you are IN your glory days when you are living your glory days!

I have news for you, Church! The glory days are yet to come, and they have not passed us by! I don’t know about you, but I believe what the Bible says. Isaiah prophesied that the whole earth will be filled with the Glory!

God told Moses, “all the earth shall be filled with the Glory of the Lord.” That is yet to come.

Paul said in Ephesians that the riches of His glory IS for the inheritance of His saints. That is us! Get excited, Champions! Be expecting! Champions are always striving toward a goal and setting high expectations. There is not any team, anywhere that ever starts a season expecting to lose. They expect the next season to be better than the last.

Church, we should expect the next season of our lives to be better than the last season of our lives. We should expect the next day to be better than yesterday. Raise your expectancy bar to a higher level. Expect the Glory Days in every day of your life! The Glory Days are now. We’ve been equipped with everything we need to walk in the Glory Days. The goodness of God is upon us. Healing, prosperity, peace, joy - all the benefits of God are ours. All these benefits working in our lives will bring forth the ability to reach the lost! It is God’s desire that not one person shall perish, but that we all will come into the kingdom of God. Glory Days!

Champions, we must decide! Today, we must decide that we will not let the Glory Days pass us by. We must determine that no matter what “curve ball” is thrown our way, we will choose to walk in the benefits that God has so strategically placed in our lives. What do I mean by strategically placed? The Word of God tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.” (MSG)

You know what that means to me? No matter what you are going through, God has strategically placed a way in your life to come out of what you are going through. He not only wants you to come out of what you are going through, but come out of it Gloriously! Praise God!

Sing it with me, Champions, “Glory Days, well, they’ll pass you by…” WAIT! No! Let’s rewrite that song. “Glory Days, well, they’ll NOT pass me by. Glory days, in an instant upon my life. Living every day, in the Glory Days!”

Join me next time as I share with you the D’s of the Devil that try to steal your Glory Days.

Be The One Part 5

Hey Champions,

Today, we are going to start in Luke with the story of the ten lepers. This story illustrates how God is calling all of us to Be the One and how we mix action with faith to do so. Once again, if you are reading this blog for the first time, read the four posts before today to catch up with where we are!

Luke 17:12-19

12: Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood far off.

13: And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14: So, when He saw them, He said to them “go, show yourselves to the priest.” And so, it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15: And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16: and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17: So, Jesus answered and said, “were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?”

18: “Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

19: And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” (whole)

Going with the theme that God has placed on our heart, we see ten lepers here who cried out to Jesus to Be the One that received their healing. Jesus heard their cry and asked them to put action to their faith in Him healing them by going to “show yourselves to the priest.” So, again, we see faith mixed with action bringing forth healing because the scripture states that as they went, they were cleansed of the leprosy. All ten went forth and were cleansed. The leprosy was gone from their lives.

BUT, there was one! There was one who decided to come back and praise God for what He had done for him! You see, I believe - by study, prayer, leading of the Holy Spirit - that we are missing out on a big part of our life in God because we don’t yield enough to praise. Not “made up praise” but heartfelt praise. This ONE leper did, and he received a great reward in return for it! Jesus made him whole - shalom: nothing missing, nothing broken! He received it all back. Not just the cleansing from the leprosy, but wholeness in every area of life just because he chose to Be the One who praised and thanked God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Choose to Be the One who praises God for His goodness in your life - for all He has done for you, for saving you, for the blessings surrounding you. Choose to Be the One who praises!
